L Devine crafts catchy, frequently dance-driven pop while preserving the accessible emotional candor typical of folk-rooted artists. After uploading several tracks herself, the performer reached broader recognition in 2017 via her first EP, Growing Pains. A guest appearance on producer Route 94’s 2020 single “Sad Songs” preceded the release of the two-part Near Life Experience in 2021.

Olivia Rebecca Devine, born in 1997 and raised in Whitley Bay near Newcastle upon Tyne, England, developed an early passion for music. During adolescence she began sharing original material online, among them a cover of Beyoncé’s “Mine” that drew the notice of producer Mickey Valen and prompted his support. She later moved to London, where she and Valen crafted her debut EP, 2017’s Growing Pains. The project contained the single “School Girls,” which gained traction online and earned positive nods to Robyn, Dua Lipa, and Tove Lo.

In 2018 Devine issued a follow-up EP, Peer Pressure, highlighted by the multi-million-stream track “Nervous.” Her largest streaming figures to date arrived the next year through her featured role on the Route 94 song “Sad Songs.” Working independently once more, she put out the paired EPs Near Life Experience, Pt. 1 and Near Life Experience, Pt. 2 during the latter half of 2021.
