Mark Barrott

Throughout the 1990s, U.K. DJ, producer, and electronic musician Mark Barrott earned widespread recognition for his explorations of ambient, house, and drum'n'bass under the guise of Future Loop Foundation and assorted other aliases. His work spanned multiple corners of electronic music, ranging from high-energy rave-oriented techno to more experimental, abstract textures, until a relocation to the sun-soaked setting of Ibiza in the late 2000s prompted a shift toward richer, more organic textures released under his own name. In 2009 he launched the International Feel imprint to showcase these fresh forays into contemporary house, disco, and related electronic styles. A series of mixes and limited-edition 12"s set the stage for the 2014 arrival of Sketches from an Island, an album of warm, breezy downtempo pieces shaped by his serene island environment. Building on those Balearic reflections, he issued the similarly airy Sketches from an Island, Vol. 2 two years afterward.
