Markus Schulz

Having originated in Germany before settling in Miami, Markus Schulz works as a club DJ while also hosting the influential radio show Global DJ Broadcast. His path started in the early '90s through remixes for Madonna, 2 Unlimited, Backstreet Boys, and RuPaul. Armada issued his first album, Without You Near, in 2005 as a collection of productions. The label followed with Thoughts Become Things in 2009, an album credited to his Dakota alias. A second Dakota release, Thoughts Become Things II, arrived in 2011. By 2012 he resumed output under his own name, delivering Scream that same year when DJ Times voted him Number One DJ in America; Scream 2 appeared in 2014. Between those albums Schulz joined Ferry Corsten to launch the New World Punx project, which continued alongside their separate solo careers. Watch the World emerged in 2016, debuting at number four on the Billboard electronic chart and including a second disc of ten acoustic versions of its tracks recorded with a guest vocalist. Late the next year he partnered with DJ Talla 2XLC for Techno Club, Vol. 53 before issuing the long-awaited third Dakota album, The Nine Skies. His seventh album under his own name, We Are the Light, followed in 2018. The year after, Schulz supplied the 15th installment of Blackhole's long-running trance series In Search of Sunrise.
