Born Julius O'Riordan on October 26, 1966, Judge Jules emerged as a recognized name in house music and DJ circles starting in 1987. He sustained widespread visibility through his radio program, repeated performances at leading European nightclubs, and the issuance of nearly forty mix compilations on assorted labels. An award recipient, he first rose to attention on BBC Radio 1 by hosting a program that aired from 1:00 to 3:00 a.m. each Saturday before evolving into the international broadcast The Global Warm Up. He further maintained a recurring role at Ibiza’s seasonal gatherings via his regular slot at the Eden club night Judgement Sunday. Although his credits as a recording artist remained shorter, the single “Pitchin,” made with Paul Masterson under the Hi-Gate pseudonym, earned him a spot on Top of the Pops in 2000. In 2006 he supplemented his extensive catalog of mix albums for labels such as Ministry of Sound by releasing the full-length Proven Worldwide. While continuing appearances across Britain and Europe, he put out the single “Laid Bare” in 2008.
