Born in Atlanta in 1995, Matt Citron emerged as a distinctive voice in rap and song, blending fervent East Coast cadences with Deep South textures. His parents had moved south from New York, and although basketball occupied most of his high-school years, he also absorbed foundational influences from Ludacris, OutKast, Dipset, and other cornerstone acts. Informal sessions with friends gradually sharpened his writing and freestyle skills. A post-graduation athletic scholarship first took him to South Carolina, yet the pull of New York’s rap community prompted a transfer to Adelphi University on Long Island, where academics and athletics coexisted with regular journeys into Manhattan to witness live performances. An eye injury sustained during an impromptu game ended his playing days and redirected his focus entirely toward music. Returning to Atlanta, he immersed himself in the city’s scene until producer, manager, and radio personality Greg Street took notice and began steering his development. Under that mentorship, Citron cultivated a signature fusion of regional styles, first displayed on the early tracks “Tabasco Flows” and “Tabasco Flows, Pt. 2.” His debut album, Final Moments of Forever, arrived in 2016; its lead single, “Stay Down,” carried production credits from Buckwild’s DITC and J-Rob.
