Token first put pen to paper at age ten, quickly cultivating a following via his YouTube channel until the 2015 viral surge of “No Sucka MC’s” at seventeen brought widespread blog coverage and rap-scene attention. The Massachusetts native independently released his opening projects Eraser Shavings and Between Somewhere before securing an Atlantic distribution arrangement that paved the way for his third studio album, Pink Is Better, in 2022.

Raised in Marblehead just north of Boston, Ben Goldberg adopted the stage name Token and developed a brisk, self-assured flow often likened to Eminem’s. The official clip for “No Sucka MC’s” drew millions of views, while a guest spot on Sway Calloway’s SiriusXM program Sway in the Morning broadened his reach. His debut full-length, Eraser Shavings, surfaced in 2016, prompting a French tour and a slot at Chorus Festival. By 2017 the tracks “Doozy” and “Exception” had each logged millions of streams, leading to an extensive U.S. headline run. Between Somewhere arrived the following year, now featuring guest verses from Tech N9ne, Bas, and IDK—artists absent from the guest-free debut. Additional singles trickled out over the ensuing seasons before the Atlantic-backed Pink Is Better landed in 2022.
