Biography
Mini Dresses formed as a Boston-based trio whose dreamy, wistful indie pop revolves around jangly guitar lines and vocals saturated in reverb. After issuing several home recordings, the group delivered its self-titled studio debut in 2017.
The project originated in summer 2012, when Austin residents Lira Mondal and Caufield Schnug began crafting nostalgic lo-fi pop at home. That September saw the arrival of the digital EP Summer Recordings together with the debut 7" Hot Sun on Manic Pop! Records. Once the pair moved to Boston, they kept issuing digital EPs and eventually added drummer Luke Reed for live performances. Box Bedroom Rebels put out a self-titled 7" in 2014, while Little Death Records followed with the cassette EP Four the next year. After the 2016 Sad Eyes EP and shows alongside Deerhunter, Chastity Belt, and Tacocat, the band signed with Joy Void in 2017. The label issued Collected Singles and EPs that July and the self-titled full-length that September. Heaven Sent, the second album and a blend of studio and home recordings, surfaced in 2019.
