Remember Sports channels an easygoing, ringing energy through Carmen Perry’s agitated vocals and chatty, everyday lyrics, fused with ’90s lo-fi and pop-punk leanings. The group first recorded as SPORTS, issuing its debut album Sunchokes in 2014; after adopting the Remember Sports moniker, the third full-length Slow Buzz emerged in 2018, while Like a Stone arrived in 2021 with input from NADINE members.

The band formed at Kenyon College in Gambier, Ohio, in 2012, featuring Perry on vocals and guitar alongside Catherine Dwyer on guitar, James Karlin on bass, and Benji Dossetter on drums. Sunchokes surfaced in mid-2014, after which Jack Washburn added guitar; the expanded lineup then joined Father/Daughter Records, which released the follow-up All of Something in late 2015. That set was captured in Philadelphia by Kyle Gilbride of Waxahatchee and Girlpool renown. The musicians relocated to Philly ahead of a 2017 split single shared with San Francisco’s Plush.

In 2018 Dwyer shifted to bass and Connor Perry took over drums in place of Dossetter. Now operating as Remember Sports, the ensemble put out Slow Buzz that May, with Evan M. Marré, known as Russel the Leaf, handling tracking in upstate New York. Father/Daughter later issued a Deluxe Edition of Sunchokes in late 2019, restoring the original eight tracks while appending demos and selected material from Carmen Perry’s parallel solo venture Addie Pray.

Following tours alongside Jeff Rosenstock and Joyce Manor, the Slow Buzz configuration entered the studio with personnel from fellow road companion NADINE. Carlos Hernandez and Julian Fader engineered and mixed, and Nadia Hulett supplied backing vocals, resulting in Like a Stone, which Father/Daughter released in April 2021.
