Minz stands out as a modern Nigerian Afrobeats vocalist whose sound balances an easygoing tone with grooves built for movement. Through the second half of the 2010s he methodically assembled a series of well-received singles, among them “Skin” in 2018 and “Nasty” in 2019. Entering the following decade he turned increasingly toward joint projects, linking with Spinall and Davido before reaching wider recognition via the 2022 release “Wo Wo (Remix)” that featured Bnxn and Blaqbonez. Following a stretch of modest individual drops, he issued his first complete album, By Any Minz, in 2024.

Raised in Lagos’s Surulere district, Dami Aminu started crafting and recording his own material in the early 2010s, shaping an Afrobeats approach that folded in touches of pop, R&B, and dancehall. Releasing under the name Minz, he put out early singles including the 2017 tracks “Talk” and “Odoyewu.” Those initial cuts, marked by lively rhythms and inviting melodies, generated early attention that he sustained with subsequent releases such as “Skin,” “Nasty,” and “BDMN.” By the start of the 2020s Minz had secured a firm footing and began broadening his palette through additional partnerships. Work alongside BoyBreed, Spinall, E Kelly and others followed, yet it was the 2022 single “Wo Wo” that propelled him to mainstream notice. While the original version performed solidly, the later remix featuring Bnxn and Blaqbonez emerged as his breakthrough and most widely streamed recording to date. He then joined Mr. Eazi’s emPawa Africa roster and kept issuing prominent tracks such as “sokoto” with Zinoleesky and “wap” with Davido. Both numbers appeared on his debut full-length project, By Any Minz, which arrived in October 2024.
