Montero

Montero embodies the exploratory pop ventures of Australian artist Ben Montero, whose earlier endeavors in Treetops and Holiday Maker established the foundation for his rich fusion of '60s sunshine pop, '70s soft rock, and relaxed psychedelia. The initial outing issued under the Montero name arrived as the 2011 7" single "Rainman" b/w "Mumbai," with the digital singles "Xenides" and "Adriana" appearing the following year. These tracks each illuminated fresh facets of his sound, ranging from opulent synth-pop balladry to dreamlike Ariel Pink-style psych-pop. His debut album, The Loving Gaze, emerged in 2013 and incorporated several of those earlier tracks. During this period Montero launched the collaborative project Early Woman alongside vocalist Hannah Brooks. Recognized equally for his contributions as a cartoonist and designer, he pursued numerous image-focused endeavors until resurfacing in 2018 with Performer, the vivid second Montero LP.
