California-based electronic musician Moore Kismet crafts shimmering, meticulously layered fusions of atmospheric trap and melodic bass, drawing from dubstep, trance, house, and additional styles. Born Omar Davis, this multifaceted creator—active as songwriter, DJ, visual artist, screenwriter, and voice actor—launched a recording career at thirteen, swiftly drawing acclaim across the EDM sphere for daring, imaginative, and emotionally charged productions. The 2020 EP Revenge of the Unicorns reflects Davis’s experience coming out as non-binary and pansexual, with representation remaining a core thread throughout their output; they also contribute to Stargazers, an animated series featuring a predominantly LGBTQ+ cast and crew. Preceding the 2022 full-length debut Universe came the EPs Vendetta for Cupid and Flourish in 2021.

Davis entered the world in late 2004 to musically inclined parents, with the mother having performed in an R&B girl group before stepping away to devote herself fully to child-rearing. Early fascination with trance and house figures such as Above & Beyond and Calvin Harris prompted music-production experiments at age seven. Daily work on material continued, yielding initial online releases in 2018 that encompassed the demo album Trials. British imprint Never Say Die brought Moore Kismet aboard in 2019, issuing Character EP alongside multiple singles, while the first live performance took place that April at Florida’s Asteria Arts & Music Festival. Revenge of the Unicorns emerged in 2020 as a direct response to the homophobic, transphobic, racist, and ageist reactions encountered after the public coming-out announcement, and it featured “Flair,” co-produced by Davis’s mother under the credit Momma Kismet. Further singles that year included “Beauty Is a Facade” and “You Should Run,” the latter featuring Pauline Herr.

Moore Kismet joined Thrive in 2021 and delivered Vendetta for Cupid, marking the first occasion their own vocals appeared. The subsequent Flourish EP showcased partnerships with artists including torr and Laxcity. Near year’s end arrived “Call of the Unicorn,” a collaboration with Tasha Baxter. Early 2022 saw the release of the R&B-inflected “Parallel Heartbreak,” again with Pauline Herr. Later that year Moore Kismet joined Whipped Cream, Big Freedia, and UNiiQU3 for “Hold Up.” The debut album UNIVERSE followed in June, incorporating several prior tracks alongside new material featuring Courtney Paige Nelson, Lunamatic, TYGKO, and additional contributors. The single “Forte” rounded out the year.
