Biography
M'Pongo Love rose to prominence in a nation where musical activity had long been regarded as an exclusively male pursuit, winning listeners through the melodic songs she delivered with the ensemble Tsheke Tsheke. Stricken by polio in childhood, she succumbed in 1990 after an extended period of declining health.
