Biography
Henry Kohen, an indie singer/songwriter and multi-instrumentalist from Columbus, Indiana, records under the name Mylets. He took up music early, mastering drums and guitar on his own while performing alongside his older brother in several local groups. By his midteens he had assembled a solo live setup built around loop pedals that layered intricate guitar lines, and he began issuing a run of self-released EPs as Mylets. The dense, angular guitar rock on those recordings prompted early comparisons to Battles and Tera Melos. Following a short stint at an Indiana college, Kohen inked a deal with the California-based Sargent House imprint, dropped out, and relocated to Los Angeles to focus on music full-time. Sargent House gathered three of the earlier EPs, remastered the tracks, and issued the compilation Retcon in 2013. Teaming with producer Sonny Diperri, whose credits include Portugal. The Man and Hanni El Khatib, Kohen tracked his first proper album, Arizona, which surfaced in early 2015.
