Biography
Nancy Rumbel stands out as one of the most compassionate and generous figures within the new age scene. She approaches her craft with complete integration of mind and spirit, channeling inner resilience and calm through every composition she offers listeners. Growing up in San Antonio, TX instilled in her both an unpretentious approach to music-making and a warm personal presence, while also cultivating broad tastes that ranged from country & western through blues to Mexican-flavored rockabilly. Those early influences continue to shape the fluid character of her new age compositions and performances. Her longstanding partnership with Eric Tingstad has yielded some of the new age community’s most distinguished acoustic ambient albums. Success arrived only after she had stepped away from professional music to focus entirely on raising her family. She now resides in the Northwestern U.S.A., where she and Tingstad persist in crafting acoustic works, highlighted by their 2002 Grammy Award for Best New Age Recording for Acoustic Garden. Her sole solo project remains Notes From the Tree of Life. Although audiences continue to seek additional recordings under her own name, the caliber of her output with Tingstad more than compensates. Association with such an extraordinary individual, however modest the connection, remains a genuine privilege. ~ Jim Brenholts
