Neon Hitch, the British singer and songwriter, shapes sharp-edged dance-pop laced with artistic touches that echo her unconventional upbringing. Born into a household of circus entertainers, she had already worked as a trapeze artist and fire manipulator across Europe during her teenage years. After departing home at 15, she wandered extensively before establishing herself in London to pursue music. Her cited inspirations range across hip-hop acts, rock groups, electro-pop productions, and global sounds. She first signed with The Beats, the label run by the Streets frontman Mike Skinner, before its 2007 closure, then landed at Warner Bros. via Kara DioGuardi in 2010. That year also brought a guest vocal on 3OH!3’s “Follow Me Down.” While recording her planned debut album Beg, Borrow and Steal, she collaborated with Benny Blanco, Greg Kurstin, Sia, and Bruno Mars, yet repeated delays stalled its release. She stayed visible nonetheless via a feature on Gym Class Heroes’ hit “Ass Back Home” and two Billboard dance chart-toppers, “Fuck U Betta” and “Gold” with rapper Tyga. By 2013 she confirmed that Beg, Borrow and Steal had been abandoned. The Happy Neon EP followed, succeeded by the mixtape 301 to Paradise. After leaving Warner Bros. in 2014 she began work on a new project titled Eleutheromaniac. Early singles “Yard Sale” and “Sparks” promoted it, but the album likewise remained unreleased. She again issued an EP, 24:00, to sustain fan interest. Later that summer she dropped “Pussy Power” and added vocals to Cash Cash’s “Devil,” which also featured Busta Rhymes and B.o.B. In 2016 her official debut Anarchy finally arrived in July, anchored by the single “Please.”
