Biography
Born Niels Roos in Gug, Denmark, on September 9, 1979, the Aalborg-based rapper Niarn first rose to prominence in the mid-2000s through a string of major commercial breakthroughs. His solo career began in 2002 with the release of the six-track Glenn Francisco EP on Run for Cover Records. Two years later he issued his first full-length project, Årgang 79, via Copenhagen Records; the set climbed to number 17 on the Danish albums chart. Building on that momentum, the label remastered and reissued the Glenn Francisco EP in 2005, a move that broadened his following. The surge in popularity carried over to his sophomore album, Antihelt, which topped the Danish charts in 2006 and featured the singles “Bare Sig Til” and “Blok 13.” Niarn maintained his profile with the 2009 release Rød Ålborg, which reached number seven on the albums chart and yielded the singles “Undskyld (Jeg Var Fuld)” and “Moderne.”
