Natasja Saad, who performed early on under the alias Little T, came into the world on October 31, 1974, in Copenhagen to a Danish mother and Sudanese father. The reggae, dancehall, and hip-hop artist launched her career at thirteen through local singing engagements and DJ sets. Those initial appearances paved the way for her first independent releases, among them the 2004 “Cover Me” 12-inch and the “Summercute” 7-inch, which in turn secured her debut album, Release, the following year.

In 2006 she traveled to Jamaica and claimed victory at the Irie FM Big Break Reggae Competition—an accomplishment all the more striking for someone raised amid Denmark’s cooler climate and outlook—thereby obtaining both a recording contract and a performance slot at that summer’s Reggae Sunfest. She also ventured into acting, making her first appearance on screen in the comedy Fidibus. Natasja maintained a steady run of dancehall successes until a fatal automobile crash in Spanish Town, Saint Catherine, Jamaica, ended her life on June 24, 2007. Months later the posthumous album I Danmark er Jeg Fodt (I Am Born in Denmark) appeared and ascended to the top of the Danish charts.
