Nihilist

Prior to the emergence of the Swedish band Entombed, guitarists Alex Hellid and drummer Nicke Andersson formed the foundation of Nihilist, where vocalist L.G. Petrov and guitarist Uffe Cederlund moved in and out across a two-year span. Still in their teens, the musicians cut multiple demo tapes that spread through the growing late '80s death metal underground and stirred widespread excitement. Although Hellid and Andersson dissolved Nihilist despite its strong reputation, they regrouped several months later as Entombed, installing Petrov and Cederlund as permanent members. The four-piece then tracked the notorious But Life Goes On demo, which earned them a contract with Earache, the era’s leading U.K. label that first brought grindcore to global attention.
