Oh No Ono

Oh No Ono built its reputation in Denmark around the arresting falsetto of frontman Malthe Fischer, whose hairstyle exploded in directions that evoked both the Strokes and Yahoo Serious, along with an eye for anything reflective, whether that meant sharp synthesizer flashes, polished studio sheen, or clusters of digital samples. The group assembled in Aalborg, initially featuring Fischer alongside drummer Kristoffer Rom, guitarist Aske Zidore, and keyboardist Kristian Olsen. Recognition arrived swiftly once their first EP, Now You Know Oh No Ono, earned the Rock Nord Prisen in 2005. Bassist Nils Svoldgard joined soon afterward, and the expanded quartet issued its debut album, Yes, during summer 2006. In 2008, after Kristian Olsen departed on good terms and Nicolai Koch stepped in, the band began shaping its second record, Eggs. Sessions took place across churches, an empty factory, and outdoor spots, all self-produced, before the finished set appeared on Leaf Recordings and Friendly Fire in 2010.
