Optic Sink operates as a minimal synth project led by Natalie Hoffmann from Nots and joined by Memphis musician Ben Bauermeister, previously of Magic Kids and A55 Conducta. Their 2020 self-titled debut album fuses raw dystopian textures via analog synth noise, rapid drum machines, and monotonic lyrics shaped by classic sci-fi, Dadaism, and existentialist philosophy.

Natalie Hoffmann launched Optic Sink in 2018 amid Nots' pause from touring to focus on their third album. She composed tracks on a four-track recorder before teaming for live shows with electronic percussionist Ben Bauermeister. The pair appeared at Austin's SXSW festival in 2019, then captured their debut album at Andrew McCalla's Bunker Audio studio later that year. Goner Records put out Optic Sink in October of 2020.
