Biography
Orion Sun emerged as the project of Tiffany Majette, a smoky-voiced performer who writes, sings, and produces her own material. Her sound weaves together hip-hop, R&B, jazz, and indie rock, first reaching full length with the 2020 release Hold Space for Me. Two years afterward came the Getaway EP, followed in 2024 by the introspective album Orion, which centers on themes of love and pain.
Majette grew up in New Jersey before establishing Orion Sun in Philadelphia through a run of boundary-pushing mixtapes that began with A Collection of Fleeting Moments and Daydreams in 2017. In 2018 she joined the bill at Jay-Z’s Made in America Festival, then spent the next year supporting Noname and Ibeyi while being selected by NPR as a Slingshot Artist to Watch. She soon joined the roster of Mom + Pop Music, which issued Hold Space for Me in March 2020. The 2022 Getaway EP included contributions from producers Rostam Batmanglij of Vampire Weekend and HAIM, Nascent known for work with SZA and Brent Faiyaz, and Rodaidh McDonald. Additional collaborations have involved Moor Mother, serpentwithfeet, and Fred again.., and she supported Daniel Caesar on his 2023 tour dates. After relocating to Los Angeles, Orion arrived in 2024.
