The ensemble Paranoise comprises Geoffrey Brown on drums, Jim Matus on guitar, Rohan Gregory on violin, Bob Laramie on bass, and Thorne Palmer handling vocals. Several of these musicians carry extensive prior credits. Brown gained recognition through his tenure with the Monster Band as well as his independent projects issued under the Ninja Rhythms name. Matus has collaborated with an eclectic roster that includes Don Cherry, Dave Weckl, Percy Jones, David Torn, Elliot Sharp, and Melvin Gibbs. Gregory appears at times with the Klezmatics and has also performed alongside Page and Plant plus Joni Mitchell. Laramie’s résumé lists stints with Matt "Guitar" Murphy and Laco Dezi. Collectively the group has issued four albums: Constant Fear (1988), Start a New Race (1993), Private Power (1999), and ISHQ (2001).
