Pedro Camargo Mariano, son of Elis Regina and César Camargo Mariano, grew up surrounded by an uncommon musical household. At twelve he started appearing in school festivals, where he and his brother João Marcello Mariano launched the group Confraria to perform at those events and went on to claim several prizes. By 1992 Max de Castro had joined on guitar, followed in 1993 by Daniel Carlomagno on bass. Pedro departed Confraria in 1994 to pursue a solo path and compose advertising jingles. The following year he and João Marcello staged a tribute to their mother at P.U.C. university; the backing ensemble featured João Marcello, Max de Castro, Daniel Carlomagno, and Pedro himself. The concert proved popular enough to be turned into a television special aired on CNT and additional networks. João Marcelo Bôscoli e Cia, his brother’s debut solo album, preceded Pedro’s own release, and Pedro contributed to four of its tracks. Pedro Camargo Mariano, his first solo album, appeared in 1997. In 1996 he shared the stage with César Camargo Mariano at the Montreaux Jazz Festival in Switzerland, where the pair performed a duet with Milton Nascimento. Two years later Pedro joined the Artistas Reunidos collective alongside Jairzinho Oliveira, Max de Castro, Wilson Simoninha, Daniel Carlomagno, and Luciana Mello. In 1999 Isaac Delgado invited him to appear at the Beny Moré Festival in Cuba.
