Biography
James Plotkin, recognized as an experimental noise-maker, includes Phantomsmasher among his many projects. After logging appearances on more than 80 releases through aliases such as OLD, Solarus, and Atomsmasher, he secured a deal with Mike Patton’s Ipecac Recordings. Building directly on the approach taken in Atomsmasher, Phantomsmasher fuses grindcore with digital hardcore and experimental noise. Its debut outing arrived in summer 2002 and includes contributions from Speedranch and Dave Witte.
