Biography
Formed in Montreal on New Year's Eve 2002, the all-female five-piece Pony Up! comprises bassist Lisa Smith, drummer Lindsay Wills, keyboardist Laura Wills, guitarist Sarah Moundroukas, and multi-tasking Camilla Wynne Ingr, who all share vocal duties. Once they had spent a year playing together, the group took its blend of girl group pop and shambolic indie rock on tour through pizza parlors, art galleries, and established concert halls, then started laying down tracks late in 2003. Ben Lee discovered them and placed the band on his boutique imprint Ten Fingers, an offshoot of Dim Mak. Pony Up! supplied the B-side to his version of Modest Mouse's "Float On," issued as a 7" single late in 2004. Early the following year brought their self-titled mini-album, which collected seven of the eleven songs captured in 2003. Their first full-length release, Make Love to the Judges with Your Eyes, appeared in spring 2006.
