Biography
Powers Pleasant works as a hip-hop producer, DJ, and drummer based in Brooklyn, where he maintains ties to the Pro Era collective and the supergroup Beast Coast. His production approach shifts fluidly across trap, rock, soul, club sounds, and additional styles. Beyond those affiliations, he has collaborated with BTS, Princess Nokia, Sampa the Great, and Denzel Curry, the latter of whom supplied Pleasant’s producer tag, “Got the beat by Powers and we just made a banger!” His first album, Life Is Beautiful, surfaced in 2019, while Life Sucks arrived in 2024.
As a co-founder of Pro Era alongside Joey Bada$$, CJ Fly, and the late Capital Steez, Pleasant contributed to Joey’s ascent by serving as his tour DJ and by co-producing the 2016 Billboard-charting single “Devastated” plus multiple tracks on the Top Five album All-Amerikkkan Bada$$. At the same time he released his own soul-sampled beats online, among them 2014’s “Stop Lyin to Me” and 2015’s “Fo$ter My Love,” both of which drew listeners, and he supplied productions for the Underachievers and Ak the Savior. In 2018 he issued his first official release on Commission Music, the self-produced “Pull Up” featuring Joey Bada$$ and A$AP Ferg. That single and seven additional tracks formed the tracklist of Life Is Beautiful, which followed in 2019. Pleasant also co-produced the BTS and Juice WRLD song “All Night” and contributed to projects by Princess Nokia, $NOT, and Rich Brian. “Evil Twin,” recorded with Denzel Curry and ZillaKami, appeared in 2021, and the 2022 collaborative cut “Overseas” brought together Maxo Kream, Erick the Architect, Bas, and Kenny Mason. Pleasant’s second album, Life Sucks, emerged in 2024 and featured an extensive roster of guests that included Saba, Tkay Maidza, AG Club, and Meechy Darko.
