Psy 4 de la Rime emerged in 1995 as a Marseille-based French rap collective that would later top the national charts. Its lineup featured Segnor Alonzo (born Kassimou D'Jae), Soprano (Saïd M'Roubaba), Don Vincenzo (Iliassa Issilame), and Sya Styles (Rachid Ait-Baar). The quartet’s first full-length project, Block Party, arrived in 2002 on the independent Marseilles label 361 Records, which fellow rapper Akhenaton had established; Virgin France handled distribution. The album debuted at number seven on the French albums chart and yielded four charting singles: “Le Son des Bandits,” “Block Party,” “La Vengeance a Deux Visages,” and “Sale Bête.”

Its successor, Enfants de la Lune, followed in 2006 on the same imprint and performed even more strongly, entering the French chart at number three while also registering in Switzerland and Belgium; the set produced the singles “Le Monde Est Stone,” “Enfants de la Lune,” and “Effet de Style, Effet de Mode.” Shortly afterward, Soprano issued his solo debut, Puisqu’il Faut Vivre, on Hostile Records in 2007. Psy 4 de la Rime regrouped for their third album, Les Cités d’Or, released in 2008 via the Universal subsidiary Barclay; it debuted at number one in France, charted in neighboring Switzerland and Belgium, and featured the singles “Jeunesse France” and “Les Cités d’Or.”

Following a four-year hiatus devoted to individual endeavors, the group returned in 2013 with 4ème Dimension, which included the tracks “Visage De La Honte” and “Crise De Nerfs” and peaked at number three on the French albums chart.
