Disiz La Peste

Born in Amiens in 1978 as Serigne M'Baye Gueye to a Senegalese father and a Belgian mother, the rapper who performs as Disiz la Peste first attracted notice after Suprême NTM’s JoeyStarr discovered him. His breakthrough arrived in 2000 when the debut album Le Poisson Rouge reached the Top Five. After releasing Jeu Societe in 2003, he issued Itinéraire d’un Enfant Bronzé under his birth name in 2004, founded the hip-hop collective Fuck Dat, and portrayed an aspiring MC in the film Dans Tes Reves. He then reclaimed the Disiz la Peste name for 2006’s Les Histoires Extra-Ordinaires d’un Jeune de Banlieue. Between those projects and two further albums made with Grems under the aliases Rouge à Lèvres and Klub Sandwich, he appeared to exit rap with 2009’s Disiz the End. Adopting the new alias Disiz Peter Punk, he explored rock on the 2010 album Dans le Ventre du Crocodile, only to return to hip-hop two years later via the EP Lucide.
