Ramin Djawadi

Ramin Djawadi, an Emmy winner and Grammy nominee active across film, television, and video games, earned his widest recognition through the 2008 Marvel release Iron Man as well as HBO’s Game of Thrones and Westworld. He rejoined Marvel Studios for the 2021 feature Eternals and later supplied the music for the 2022 theatrical adaptation of Uncharted.

The Iranian-German composer refined his craft at Hans Zimmer’s Remote Control Productions alongside fellow talents Klaus Badelt, John Debney, Harry Gregson-Williams, and Steve Jablonsky. After serving as Badelt’s assistant, Djawadi stepped forward independently with the 2004 score for director David Goyer’s Blade: Trinity, a project that included contributions from RZA.

He maintained ties with Goyer on both the film The Unborn and the series FlashForward, securing an Emmy nomination for the latter. A longtime admirer of Marvel’s characters, Djawadi created the guitar-driven soundtrack for Jon Favreau’s Iron Man in 2008; two years afterward he supplied the memorable, frequently reinterpreted theme and additional cues for HBO’s Game of Thrones.

His subsequent film work encompassed Clash of the Titans, Red Dawn, Pacific Rim, Warcraft, The Great Wall, and A Wrinkle in Time. Television assignments broadened to include the vampire series The Strain, the sci-fi techno thriller Person of Interest, HBO’s Westworld, and Amazon’s Tom Clancy’s Jack Ryan. Consecutive Emmy Awards arrived in 2018 and 2019 for individual Game of Thrones episodes, and a Grammy nomination followed in 2019 for the show’s final season.

Djawadi scored Marvel Studios’ Eternals in 2021 and the video-game-derived Uncharted in 2022. Later that year he returned to Westeros for the Game of Thrones prequel House of the Dragon.
