Raxon

Operating from Barcelona, Raxon produces and DJs adventurous techno and house material that incorporates unexpected elements such as breakbeats along with melodies drawn from his Egyptian background. More than two dozen singles and EPs came before the 2021 release of his first album, Sound of Mind, which appeared on Kompakt.

Ahmed Dawoud entered the world in Egypt before training and practicing as an architect in Dubai. He started issuing techno recordings as Raxon in 2009, then committed fully to electronic music the following year. In Dubai he operated both a club night and the label audio tonic while placing further tracks on digital imprints including Solid Fabric and Akbal Music. Following encouragement from progressive house DJ Hernán Cattáneo, Dawoud moved to Europe and established himself in Barcelona during 2014. His debut vinyl outing arrived in 2015 as the Gruuv EP Superimposed, a collaboration with longtime associate Spirit Catcher. Subsequent releases appeared regularly on imprints such as Ellum Audio, Truesoul, and Diynamic Music. In 2019 he placed EPs on Kompakt (Speicher 107) and Systematic (Vapor Trails, with Edu Imbernón), after which Drumcode put out Orbit Connection in 2020. Cocoon issued the single “Doom” in 2021, the same year Raxon’s debut full-length Sound of Mind landed on Kompakt and featured some of his most experimental, rave-inflected work.
