Ridan, the French rapper renowned for deploying "verlan"—the inverted-syllable street vernacular comparable to backslang or pig Latin—first gained recognition in 2004 with the release of his debut album Le Rêve Ou la Vie, which contained the hit single "Le Quotidien."
