Drawing from sources as varied as Drake and choral traditions, the London duo RINNGS shapes forward-looking pop. Karl Zine and Nai Jannson comprise the pair. After striking up a conversation on a flight across the Atlantic, the former acquaintances concluded they ought to make music together. Their prior experience in jazz drumming, conducting, and choral composition led them to restrict their sound to vocal and percussion layers that are sampled and rearranged into distinctive yet calming structures. The group issued its first single, the haunting "Cutting the Cloth," in 2017; the track incorporated a vocal sample taken from one of their children.
