Biography

Jen on guitar and Sarah on drums and vocals came together as a duo that first used the name Mopar after forming in 1995. Both had portrayed Rizzo in high-school productions of Grease, so they adopted the character’s name to reflect that shared identification. Harriet Records presented the band’s initial outing in 1997 as a split single with Tullycraft, framing their sparse yet rapid punk sound inside lighthearted indie pop. The Los Angeles pair followed with the 7-inch Shymaster on Cher Doll Records the next year. Phoning It In arrived in spring 2001.
