Biography
DaniLeigh maintains a steady presence on the Def Jam roster as a contemporary R&B performer. The understated and assured singer/songwriter entered the major-label arena with the 2017 EP Summer with Friends, which paved the way for the charting full-length The Plan in 2018. Subsequent releases include the 2019 EP My Present and the 2020 sophomore album Movie. That same year brought RIAA platinum certifications for both "Easy" and "Lil Bebe," followed by the 2022 EP My Side.
A Miami native raised by Dominican parents, DaniLeigh (Danielle Curiel) began as a background dancer and served as one half of the sibling duo Curly Fryz. Prince selected her to direct and appear in the video for his 2013 single "Breakfast Can Wait." Curly Fryz issued several independent singles and contributed to Prince's HITnRUN: Phase One track "Like a Mack," yet DaniLeigh ultimately pursued a solo path. After issuing a pair of independent singles, she joined Def Jam and made her major-label entrance in 2017 via "Lurkin" and the Kap G-assisted "Play," both featured on the promptly released EP Summer with Friends.
November 2018 saw the arrival of her full-length project The Plan, which reached Billboard's Heatseekers chart and included "Can't Relate," a collaboration with YG and YBN Nahmir, along with "Easy" and "Lil Bebe," the latter featuring Lil Baby on a bonus remix. A 2019 remix of "Easy" with Chris Brown preceded DaniLeigh's second EP, My Present. Her follow-up full-length Movie arrived in 2020, containing "Levi High" with DaBaby, "Dominican Mami," and "Monique," and peaked at number four on Billboard's Top Heatseekers chart. "Dead to Me" and "Hate to See It," both released in May 2022, served as the opening tracks from her EP My Side.
