New Jersey-born Tone Stith crafts contemporary R&B and first gained traction after co-authoring the platinum-certified 2015 Chris Brown single “Liquor.” His ballad-focused debut album, Can We Talk, followed in 2017. Two further full-length projects, FWM and the companion release Still FWM, surfaced consecutively in 2021, and the seven-track EP P.O.V. appeared in 2023.

Raised in Marlton, New Jersey, Stith began engaging with music in childhood. By his teenage years he was already playing drums, experimenting with production software, and developing his voice in church, a talent inherited from his mother, a vocalist who had shared stages with Patti LaBelle. During that period he performed in the group SJ3, whose work drew the interest of Jas Prince, the figure instrumental in Drake’s early success. With Prince’s guidance, Stith transitioned to a solo career.

The partnership’s initial results included Stith’s contributions to two tracks on Chris Brown’s Royalty, “Make Love” and “Liquor,” the latter issued as the lead single in June 2014. It reached number 60 on the Billboard Hot 100 and earned platinum status within five months. Over the ensuing two years Stith appeared on recordings by independent artists Von and PARRI$. His debut album, Can We Talk, arrived in 2017 via Prince’s Young Empire Music Group in conjunction with RCA, featuring production from the duo PRBLMSLVRS. The New Jack Swing–inspired “Light Flex,” a collaboration with 2 Chainz, surfaced on the Uncle Drew soundtrack in 2018. Later the same year he released the Good Company EP, which included the title track with Swae Lee and Quavo plus “Take It There” featuring Ty Dolla $ign. The standalone single “Devotion” followed in 2020. June 2021 brought the full-length FWM, containing guest appearances by H.E.R., Lonr., and Kiana Ledé. Still FWM arrived soon afterward, with contributions from Chris Brown, Maeta, and Kenneth Paige. In 2022 Stith issued the singles “What’s Good,” a duet with Skylar Stecker, and “B.E.D.” His subsequent project, the 2023 EP P.O.V., centered on the introspective single “Girls Like You.”
