A Toronto-based contemporary R&B performer whose ruminative songcraft pairs with a yearning yet controlled vocal approach, Dylan Sinclair has advanced methodically since issuing his debut commercial single during 2017. The 2018 EP Red Like Crimson initiated a creative partnership with producer Jordon Manswell that yielded the Juno-nominated album Proverb in 2020, its 2022 successor No Longer in the Suburbs, and a series of stripped-back slow jams that surfaced across 2023 and 2024.

Born in Thornhill, Ontario, Sinclair began performing in church during early childhood and turned to songwriting in his early teens. He independently released the reflective, bass-heavy ballad “Twelve” in 2017; three months afterward he returned with the more atmospheric love song “Too Fast.” Issued on the Prodigal label in the middle of 2018, Red Like Crimson broadened his audience and connected him with Manswell, then gaining notice for his contributions to Daniel Caesar’s Grammy-nominated album Freudian. Together with additional collaborators, the pair assembled the concise Proverb, which appeared in September 2020 on Manswell’s Five Stone Records imprint and earned a 2021 Juno nomination for Traditional R&B/Soul Recording of the Year.

After a handful of further singles that included “Regrets” and the Savannah Ré collaboration “Last One,” Sinclair delivered his second eight-track project, No Longer in the Suburbs, a title that nods to his move into urban surroundings after growing up north of Toronto. Six months later a deluxe edition arrived, featuring Destin Conrad and Jvck James on a remix of “Open” alongside the new duet “Never” with Joyce Wrice. The 2023–2024 singles “Fly Girl,” “Lemon Trees,” and “I Lo<3 My Ex” continued the thread of intimate, minimalist material.
