The enigmatic Los Angeles R&B duo Emotional Oranges crafts smooth tracks that blend 1990s influences with contemporary textures. Their refined sonic palette features conversational exchanges between male and female voices atop crisp, broadcast-friendly beats. Emerging with scant biographical details and identifying solely as “A” and “V,” the pair progressed from standalone releases to extended projects such as the 2022 installment The Juice, Vol. 3. They later joined Nigerian artist Nonso Amadi for the 2024 EP Blended.

Emotional Oranges introduced themselves with the May 2018 single “Motion.” Eschewing conventional interviews, they allowed the recordings to convey their identity. Several months afterward came “Personal,” and both cuts accumulated millions of streams across digital services. January 2019 brought a third release, “Hold You Back.” That June they issued their first full-length, The Juice, Vol. 1, with The Juice, Vol. 2 following in November. The 2020 single “All That,” a partnership with Channel Tres, represented their next output. The 2021 album The Juicebox incorporated “All That” alongside appearances by Vince Staples, Becky G, Biig Piig, and additional guests. December 2022 saw the especially ’90s-inflected continuation The Juice, Vol. 3. Still Emo, their 2023 set, featured Tkay Maidza, ZHU, and Nigerian singer/songwriter and producer Nonso Amadi. Blended, the four-track EP recorded with Amadi, surfaced in 2024 and drew on house and amapiano rhythms.
