Originating in Brooklyn, indie pop trio Roman à Clef began life as a side project uniting Ryan Newmyer and Jen Goma—bassist and singer, respectively, of dream pop combo A Sunny Day in Glasgow—with multi-instrumentalist and producer Kurt Feldman, known for his roles in Ice Choir and the Pains of Being Pure at Heart. Their music recalls the ethereal vocal arrangements, extended chord progressions, and distinctive guitar-and-synth palette of a dream pop-lite rebirth of beloved U.K. sophisti-pop group Prefab Sprout, qualities that define the debut album Abandonware, issued in 2015 via Infinite Best.
