Roz and The Rice Cakes

Roz and the Rice Cakes formed as an indie pop outfit in Providence, Rhode Island, taking their name from frontwoman Roz Raskin. The project’s other original members were Casey Belisle and Justin Foster, who helped shape a sound that fused gleaming pop hooks with expansive atmosphere and experimental leanings. After the group came together in 2008 and steadily built an audience via consistent road work—sharing stages with Passion Pit and OK Go while appearing at South by Southwest and the Newport Folk Festival—the trio secured a deal with Team Love Records. Their debut album, Need to Feed, arrived on the label in 2014, followed a year later by the stand-alone single “Close Encounter/The Conversation.” Bradford Krieger recorded and co-produced the band’s sophomore effort, Devotion, at his Big Nice Studio in Rhode Island, and Team Love issued the album in 2017.
