Biography
Hailing from the Bay Area, Saafir made his initial appearances on Casual's Fear Itself, Digital Underground's The Body-Hat Syndrome, and the soundtrack for Menace II Society. Securing a contract with Qwest Records enabled the rapper to assemble the Hobo Junction production crew, consisting of J Groove, J.Z., Rational, Big Nose, and Poke Marshall, to create his debut release centered on freestyles, titled Boxcar Sessions, which came out in 1994. His acting credit includes a role in the movie Menace II Society, and he also issued Trigonometry as Mr. No No prior to resuming his Saafir persona with the 1999 album The Hit List. On November 19, 2024, Saafir passed away at 54 years old.
