San Quinn launched his career in the early '90s in tandem with J.T. the Bigga Figga, cutting tracks for the latter’s Get Low imprint across multiple years until parting ways near the close of the decade. The Cali Bay Area rapper first gained notice in 1994 by appearing on the label’s initial pair of official projects, J.T.’s Playaz N' the Game and the Get Low Playaz’s Straight Out the Labb. Prior to those efforts he had already tracked the underground release Don't Cross Me, which Get Low later reissued in 2000; immediately afterward came the two Priority-distributed Get Low albums Live N Direct (1996) and Hustle Continues (1996). From there Quinn struck out independently, stepping away from both J.T. the Bigga Figga and Get Low in pursuit of fresh ventures. He joined forces with Messy Marv for Explosive Mode (1998) before shifting to solo output on assorted independent imprints, starting with The Mighty Quinn (2001) on Champeli.
