Biography
Sarah Simmons, recognized as a singer, songwriter, and multi-instrumentalist, gained her widest attention by taking part in the 2013 season of NBC’s The Voice vocal competition. Raised in Birmingham, Alabama, she sang from childhood and joined a musical theater ensemble that took her on tours across the country by the time she turned 13. At age 15 her father handed her a guitar, prompting her to start writing and performing original material. She entered the music program at the Christian-based Visible Music College in Memphis, Tennessee, at 20, yet set the degree aside when the chance to appear on The Voice arose. Coached by Adam Levine of Maroon 5, she reached the top eight before the season concluded.
