Biography
Before securing victory on the 2015 season of The Voice, Sawyer Fredericks had already refined his abilities as a singer and songwriter, marked by a powerful, emotive vocal style and long flowing hair. Drawing inspiration from Creedence Clearwater Revival, Ray LaMontagne, Johnny Cash, Simon & Garfunkel, and Keith Urban, he grew up in the small town of Fultonville in upstate New York, where he continues to reside with his parents on the family farm. He took up the guitar at age ten and produced his first six-song demo of original material two years after that. Through CD Baby, he released his debut full-length album, Out My Window, in 2013. In 2015, at fifteen years old, Fredericks auditioned for season eight of NBC’s singing competition The Voice and earned a place on Pharrell Williams’ team. Quickly emerging as a viewer favorite, he claimed the top spot at the season’s conclusion. After the win, he joined Republic Records and issued a self-titled EP that featured the single “Take It All.” His first major-label album, A Good Storm, appeared in 2016 with the single “4 Pockets,” and Hide Your Ghost followed in 2018.
