Biography
The duo centers on Vienna-born keyboardist Richard Schonherz, whose compositions encompass works for full orchestra along with soundtracks for Austrian films and television projects. Peter Scott, a San Francisco native, pursued private guitar studies before attending the Musicians Institute of Technology, where his focus turned to composing and arranging. Across their careers, both musicians have explored an extensive range of genres, encompassing classical, jazz, rock, and blues.
Once the pair connected, they promptly created batches of pop demos alongside collections of instrumental pieces. Those instrumental works formed the foundation for the duo’s debut on Windham Hill, the 1987 release One Night in Vienna. The pop demos, in turn, drove the creation of their follow-up album Under a Big Sky, featuring vocal tracks together with instrumentals leaning further toward pop.
