Biography
SF9, the nine-piece South Korean ensemble also recognized as Sensational Feeling Nine, specializes in energetic, choreography-driven tracks blending pop and rap elements. Their introduction to audiences came via the 2016 release of "Fanfare," followed by the full album Sensational Feeling Nine in 2017. By 2019, their second studio effort Illuminate had reached the third position on Japanese charts.
FNC Entertainment assembled the act in Seoul during 2015, with the roster featuring leader, lead singer, rapper, and main dancer Youngbin alongside main vocalist Inseong, sub-vocalists Jaeyoon and Dawon, main-rapper Zuho, lead vocalist Rowoon, sub-vocalist/main dancer Taeyang, sub-rapper Hwiyoung, and sub-rapper/main dancer Chani. The members first connected while competing on the label’s NEOZ Dance survival program, which they won after performing their track "K.O." They next issued the three-song single "Feeling Sensation," containing "Fanfare" as one of its cuts. Their opening EP, Burning Sensation, surfaced in February 2017 and peaked at number six on the Billboard World Albums chart. Breaking Sensation arrived the following April, after which the group made initial concert appearances in Japan and the United States.
Their debut full-length, Sensational Feeling Nine, came out in December 2017 and entered Japan’s Top Ten. Two further EPs—Mamma Mia! and Sensuous—appeared in 2018 and were supported by headline runs across Japan and South America. Early 2019 brought both the sixth EP Narcissus and the Japanese album Illuminate. After completing European and American tours later that year, the band delivered the six-track RPM EP. Rowoon also launched his acting career that year, starring in the MBC series Extraordinary You. In January 2020 SF9 issued their first Korean studio album, First Collection, which featured the song "Good Guy."
