Biography
A Seoul-based boy band assembled by WM Entertainment, ONF ("On and Off") blend bright, melody-driven pop with touches of hip-hop and dance. Their debut EP, On/Off, arrived in August 2017 and reached number nine on the Gaon Album Chart. The original seven-member lineup—Hyojin, E-Tion, J-Us, MK, U, Wyatt, and Laun—followed with the six-track You Complete Me in June 2018, which peaked at number eight. Less than a year later, February 2019's We Must Love climbed into the Top Five. Shortly before the October 2019 release of their fourth EP, Go Live, Laun departed, leaving the remaining six members to extend the group's streak of Top Ten EPs. Their next effort, the August 2020 Spin Off EP, became their first Top Three release.
The band's first full-length album, ONF: My Name, appeared in February 2021. Produced and co-written by Monotree, it returned them to number three on the Korean album chart while also entering Japan's Top 40; the set included their initial Top Ten single, "Beautiful Beautiful." Two further 2021 releases, the August Popping EP and December's Goosebumps EP, both reached number two in Korea. In late December 2021, all members except U began mandatory military service. The group had already completed Storage of ONF, a partly new, partly remastered collection issued in August 2022 to cover the upcoming hiatus.
