Xdinary Heroes

In 2021 the South Korean rock outfit Xdinary Heroes—its name a stylized shorthand for extraordinary heroes—made its entrance on JYP Entertainment’s Studio J roster. Guitars and keyboards powered the polished sound the sextet first displayed across the 2022 EPs Hello World and Overload, the second of which also registered on U.S. rankings. Deadlock followed as their third EP in 2023.

Gun-il, Jungsu, Gaon, O.de, Jun Han, and Jooyeon comprise the lineup. The group issued its first single, “Happy Death Day,” in December 2021. Hello World surfaced the next June and rose to number four in Korea, helped by the hit track “Test Me.” Overload appeared that November, widening the band’s profile when it landed on three separate American charts. “Freakin’ Bad” preceded Deadlock, the April 2023 EP that reached number eight on the Gaon charts.
