South Korean boy band Enhypen set out to link fans together through the conceptual identity implied by their name, delivering smooth R&B-dance-pop across a series of releases that began with the 2020 debut EP Border: Day One. Its 2021 successor, Border: Carnival, debuted at the summit of the Korean album chart while also appearing on the U.S. World chart, establishing momentum that carried into the full-length Dimension: Dilemma later the same year; that album likewise led the Korean rankings and reached number 11 on the Billboard 200. Chart supremacy continued with 2022’s Manifesto: Day 1, followed in 2023 by the EPs Dark Blood and Orange Blood, then extended further when the sixth EP, Memorabilia, surfaced in 2024.

Formed as the inaugural act under the newly created Belift Lab—a partnership between CJ E&M and Big Hit—the seven members emerged from the reality-survival program I-Land, which ran from June to September 2020. The winners were Heeseung, U.S.-born Jay, Australia-born Jake, Sunghoon, Sunoo, leader Jungwon, and Japan-born Ni-ki. Their presentation followed the standard K-pop template of elevated production, polished vocals, and precisely synchronized “point” choreography, while the group name itself, drawn from the hyphen, embodied the idea of “connection, discovery, and growth.” Cinematic trailers generated intense anticipation that drove 300,000 pre-orders for Border: Day One; issued in November 2020 in “Dusk” and “Dawn” editions, the mini-album opened at number four in Korea and moved another 95,000 units during its first week. The lead single “Given-Taken” introduced a sleek, atmospheric R&B-dance-pop sound paired with a vaguely gothic, vampiric aesthetic.

Once Border: Day One earned platinum certification, Enhypen returned with Border: Carnival in April 2021, their first release to top both the Korean and U.S. charts. Dimension: Dilemma followed later in 2021 and again led the Korean tally; a repackaged edition titled Dimension: Answer, containing three additional tracks, appeared in January 2022. In July the group delivered their third EP, Manifesto: Day 1, anchored by the single “Future Perfect (Pass the Mic),” which peaked at number six on the Billboard 200 and number one on the World Albums chart. The year closed with their first Japanese full-length project, Sadame.

Dark Blood arrived in May 2023 as a chart-topping EP whose darker, more dramatic tone aligned with the vampire narrative of the web series Dark Moon: The Blood Altar. The follow-up, Orange Blood, adopted a smoother palette and centered on “Sweet Venom,” released in both Korean and English versions as well as a duet with Bella Poarch. Memorabilia, the sixth EP, entered the Korean chart at number three in May 2024, with the mini-album Romance: Untold appearing in July.
