Biography
Formed in 2019 through a partnership between S.M. Entertainment and Capitol Music Group, the seven-piece South Korean collective SuperM assembled talent from Shinee’s Taemin, EXO’s Baekhyun and Kai, NCT 127’s Taeyong and Mark, and WayV’s Ten and Lucas. Their self-titled debut EP arrived that year, led by the breakout track “Jopping,” a propulsive single that earned international acclaim and helped the project reach number three on the Gaon Album Chart while simultaneously topping the Billboard 200—the first time any Korean act had achieved that milestone on an initial release. SuperM fuse hip-hop, electronic dance, and pop into K-pop anthems that alternate rap sections with R&B-inflected vocals. Capitalizing on that breakthrough, the group delivered their first full-length album, Super One, in 2020, featuring the high-energy cuts “100” and “One (Monster & Infinity).”
