Biography
Brothers Felipe and Ivan Garcia launched the Mexican psych-punk duo Sgt. Papers in 2017, delivering stripped-down, high-gain rock laced with dense psychedelic textures. When Felipe’s other project the Mud Howlers entered a period of inactivity that same year, he recruited his sibling Ivan to handle drums and form the new group. Early work emphasized punk velocity and volume alongside warped guitar textures and hallucinatory production, traits that intensified across subsequent releases. Before the year closed, their debut seven-song collection Sgt. Papers Lonely Psych Punk Band appeared online. The pair soon adopted a steady cycle of touring and studio work, issuing the follow-up Me Hiciste Brujería in 2019. Their third album, SGTP, surfaced in 2021. In 2024 they delivered their first outing for the U.S. garage-punk imprint In the Red, the abrasive and acid-soaked Fuga!.
